For me, tutoring is about more than improving a grade—it’s about helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to become increasingly independent learners.
A Teacher by Calling
I didn’t begin college planning to become a teacher. At first, I was considering a career in nursing.
But that changed when I became a teacher’s assistant in a kindergarten classroom. As I worked with the students, my supervising teacher recognized something in me—a natural ability to connect with children and help them learn. She encouraged me to consider teaching as a career.
That experience changed the direction of my life. I realized that teaching wasn’t simply something I could do; it was something I was called to do.
I eventually pursued my education at Columbia International University, where my passion for teaching continued to grow. It was also where I met my husband, David. 😊
Looking back, that kindergarten classroom was an important turning point. It was where I first began to understand that helping students learn, grow, and discover what they are capable of could become my life’s work.
My Philosophy
I believe every student can learn and grow when they are given the right encouragement, support, and opportunity. Students do not all learn in the same way or at the same pace, so I strive to meet each student where they are, discover how they learn best, and find ways to make challenging concepts understandable. My goal is not simply to help students complete an assignment or improve a grade, but to help them build confidence, recognize their strengths, and become independent learners who believe, “I can do this.”
